Antique Silverware Set
This set has extra silver. It has the normal coating over everything; but before that, they inlay the high-use areas with extra Sterling silver to increase its wear-ability over time.

History:
When Holmes & Edwards started this process in the late 1880's, they used the stamp 'E Sterling Inlaid HE'. About 14 years later, Holmes & Edwards became part of the International Silver Company (or IS); along with several other smaller silversmiths. Even though these companies were now a conglomerate, they still produced silverware under their own names. Being part of a this International Silver Company conglomerate, it became more important to them to advertise their name over other silversmiths in the conglomerate since this was their patented process. They dropped everything but the word 'Inlaid' on the label, so there was enough room to also show they're company name. Not many sets were inlaid; which is why this one is in such good condition.
